Directions to Pilanesberg (Kgorogoro) Lodge

Travel from Johanesburg or Pretoria to Sun City on your preferred route, see Map above.
Following the suggested route you will pass the Sun City main gate on your right hand side. (The Spar shopping complex is immediately past the main gate, also on your right hand side).

Continue on this road to the T-Junction/4 Way Stop where you will turn right on the Derdepoort road. Beware of the speed limit of 60kms as speed trapping occurs on this road.

Follow the Derdepoort road (look out for potholes!) until you reach the Black Rhino Reserve on your right hand side. There will be a white signboard and a thatched building being the main entrance gate to Black Rhino Reserve.

Distance from Sun City main gate to Black Rhino Reserve +/-35kms.

 Arrival Instructions

Sign in at the gate for Stand number 14 (Kgorogoro Lodge). As you pass through the gate you will immediately be in “Big 5” country. Do not get out of your vehicle at any time, and be aware that you may encounter game on the drive to the Lodge. Speed Limit 30kms.

Pass through the gate and follow the dirt road along the fence line. The road will bend to the left, and you will soon pass a waterhole on your left. Continue until you pass Lodge 19 on your right, shortly thereafter you will see a road sign indicating a left turn to Lodge 14. Turn left, and at the large metal gate key in the code 1234# to open. Kgorogoro Lodge entrance is immediately on your right hand side.

William Whiteman and Angie Locker are the resident guides. They will be informed of your arrival by the gate officer, and will be expecting your arrival at the Lodge. Drive through the Kgorogoro entrance and follow the driveway round to the main Lodge entrance. Should you wish to leave your vehicle at the gate due to muddy road conditions, you may contact William on 079 779 3986 to assist you. It is rare that the roads are impassable in a sedan, but odd occasions do arise after heavy rainfall.

William and Angie will assist you with your luggage, and inform you of the rules of the Lodge. They will provide daily game drives, light fires and lamps in the boma, and be available for any information required. Their duties do not include catering of any nature.

You will be requested to extinguish all fires and lamps before retiring from the boma. This is for your own safety and that of the Lodge – all part of the fun of being in the bush.
